Pixley Falls (PXF)

The history of the Black River Canal is brought to life at the Pixley Falls (PXF) campus.  The trail starts in Boonville, NY and continues south for approximately 7.5 miles.  A portion of the trail runs beside the marvelous Boonville Gorge and passes through Pixley Falls State Park.  The trail becomes steeper as it eventually progresses past the famed “Five Combines.”

PXF is a state park which contains trails that have generously made available to BROEP.  The trails are also open to the public year round.

Directions to PXF: 11430 State Route 46, Boonville, NY 13309

From North:
Follow Route 26 South, which eventually becomes Route 12D South. Continue on Route 12D South to the village of Boonville, where Route 12D becomes Post Street (Route 46 South). Continue 6.2 miles on Route 46 South and turn left into Pixley Falls State Park.

Alternate Directions from North: Follow Route 12 South to Boonville. Turn right onto Schuyler Street. Continue on Schuyler Street for 0.3 miles, staying to the left of the gazebo/flagpole. Turn left at the traffic light onto Post Street (Route 46 South). Continue 6.2 miles on Route 46 South and turn left into Pixley Falls State Park.

From South (Utica and points east): Follow Route 49 West. Take the Route 365 East/East Dominick Street exit towards Griffiss Park. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Route 825 North, and merge onto Route 825 North (Wright Drive). At the traffic circle, continue straight onto Hill Road. Follow Hill Road, which will bend to the left and become Mohawk Drive, and then it will change names once more to East Chestnut Street. Turn right onto Black River Boulevard and follow signs for Route 46 North. After travelling for approximately 16 miles on Route 46 North, turn right into Pixley Falls State Park.

From South (Rome and points west): Follow Route 46 North. Turn right into Pixley Falls State Park.

Alternate Directions from South (Rome and points west):
Follow Route 26 North. Turn right onto Route 294 East. Continue for 6.8 miles to the village of Boonville. Turn right onto Post Street (Route 46 North). Continue 6.2 miles on Route 46 South and turn left into Pixley Falls State Park.
